Seven days of noticing gifts

Notice something specific each day. Gratitude and grief can exist together; there is no requirement to make a difficult day sound happy.

Day 1

Begin with thanks

Day 4

Words for the day

Colossians 3:15–17

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

These verses connect peace, gratitude, teaching, singing, and everyday words and actions in a community.

Day 5

Notice rest

Psalm 23:1–3

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Psalm 23 uses the image of a shepherd and moves from rest and guidance to a dark valley later in the poem.

Day 6

Make room for both
