With my song I will thank him. The LORD is their strength. He is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed. Save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd also, and bear them up forever.

The psalmist gives thanks for a heard petition and describes help through the images of strength and a shield. The closing prayer then widens from personal gratitude to asking God to shepherd the whole people.
